Beamers (1988)
Beamer is a small series of metal paintings—acrylic and silkscreen ink on vinyl film on enameled aluminum. The title refers to Rauschenberg’s BMW Art Car project from 1986. In this painting series, Rauschenberg reused the images from his Art Car, including those derived from his own photographs as well as reproductions of important works of art in the collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York. Multiple vinyl fragments applied to the metal surface result in an affichiste topography.
