A Quake in Paradise (Labyrinth) (1994)

A Quake in Paradise (Labyrinth) consists of twenty-nine freestanding aluminum and Lexan panels on which the artist used brightly colored silkscreen ink to transfer imagery from his own photographs as well as imagery of divers from photographs taken by Aaron Siskind. The panels, which are variously transparent, opaque, or reflective, are arranged in a maze that the viewer can navigate. While some units remain consistent, the overall installation of the artwork can expand, contract, and convolute based on the surrounding architecture. It was exhibited for the first time in 1995 at Galerie Jamileh Weber in Zurich. A Quake in Paradise is a serial artwork, rather than a series.
