Thai drawings (1983)
A suite of drawings with solvent transfer imagery and watercolor. In contrast to the contemporaneous Sri Lanka and Kyoto drawings (both 1983), which were made during his travels, the Thai drawings were completed in Captiva upon his return from the trip that encompassed all three destinations. This series combines elements from all three: on gold-edged Japanese dedication boards, Rauschenberg transferred images from Thai publications as well as his own color photographs of Sri Lanka, among the earliest instances of his use of color photography in this manner. Some of the transfers appear to have been made using a printing press.
